Haapiti is a snorkeling site located in the West of Bora Bora outside the lagoon, generally very calm because sheltered from the wind and the swell, the water is limpid one can observe there all type of tropical fishes, black tip sharks, turtle... as well as the outer reef with its many canyons.
The depth varies slowly, from a few meters near the reef to a few tens of meters as soon as one moves away from it; it often happens to see the bottom at 40 meters (120 feet). Under the anchorage there are ten meters which allows novice swimmers to swim in peace.
It is possible on the road to meet schools of dolphins (common bottlenose dolphin, long beak...).
